About us

How can you wear culture?

We do it by combining streetwear with Japanese craftsmanship and African heritage.

Our garments are designed in Hackney and meticulously crafted in Japan using the age-old loopwheeling process that guarantees durability.

“Wearing Fuji&Hakone means wearing an item that carries the stories of generations of makers and creators before you.”

Fuji&Hakone is bridging the gap between ‘now’ and ‘then’, while paying homage to the craftsmanship seen in vintage manufacturing and collegiate wear. Our graphic tees carry new meaning and bring light to often forgotten figures and moments throughout history.

Our garments are boundless, like the expedition of Yasuke - the first Black samurai in 16th century Japan who travelled from Africa to Japan.

Fuji&Hakone transports and revives stories, moments, feelings and emotions. We explore nostalgia, while keeping discovery alive.

Our mission is to explore, adapt and innovate new ways of preserving vintage styles and quality manufacturing for another 100 years.

Keep culture alive by wearing it.

Our products are made (by highly skilled craftspeople) in Japan using durable fabrics woven by the historic and iconic loopwheel machines - a key part of Japanese clothing culture and commitment to excellence.

Loopwheel manufacturing is a delicate, vintage process that gives the fabric its superior texture, long lasting quality, and a boxy fit.

We manufacture our loopwheel garments in Wakayama, Japan, alongside other famously known, premium factories. We’re preserving ancient Japanese craftsmanship while maintaining streetwear style through a modern, global lens.

Our garments do not tend to shrink when washed correctly (please follow washing instruction) but the jersey will form and stretch over time. So it may feel snug on first wear but it will fit perfectly after a period of use.
